Going to the picture show

Today, the whole family went to see the new Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) film, Millions. In the film a young boy finds a gym bag full of money. He tells his brother and they decide to keep it secret. They find various ways to spend the money--the older brother blows it on cell phones and sports memorabilia; the younger brother tries to give it away to the needy (more difficult than he thinks). The film uses a combination of expressive and realistic storytelling that was a little beyond Eliot and when the gummy worms ran out, so did he. Gareth, I think, enjoyed it but it was no George of the Jungle. I think it was a good film.

Later, for dinner, Eliot threw a tantrum because Gareth didn't want Macaroni and Cheese. Holly bribed Gareth with a new kind of Lunchables for tomorrow if he would eat Macaroni and Cheese today, which he did. Holly and I made a mediocre Sesame Tofu.

Random notes:

Eliot has started getting up early in the morning, using the bathroom, and going back to bed. This may not sound earth-shattering, but believe me, it is.

Holly helped deliver her 46th baby--it was a boy.

Gareth has conquered addition and subtraction into the hundreds, handed down a missive to misbehaving ten year olds on the playground, and made 20-minute brownies in ten minutes.

Aaron read Clotel, Slavery and the Literary Imagination, Naked Lunch, Hunger of Memory, The Pound Era, Maus, and The Bridge. Tomorrow he will start The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven.
